Tabla: Drums of India
Lecture & Demonstration / Master Class
May 21, 2005, 2:00 - 5:00 PM  in
Atlanta

Ganesh Academy of Indian Arts is proud to present Pandit Charanjit Chatur Lal and his son, Pranshu Lal, in a lecture and demonstration of TABLA, Drums of India. The Lal family has a long tradition of performance around the world. The afternoon will be a rare treat for Atlantans! Guruji, Pt. Charanjit Lal, will first offer an overview of the Tabla, and then Pranshu Lal, age 12, will play a 20 minute solo. For those interested in trying their own hand at Tabla Drumming, a Master Class will follow the lecture/demonstration. Anyone from novice to experienced musician will be guided to work on an initial lesson at their own pace, on drums provided by the teachers. This brief workshop is an introduction to ongoing classes and events scheduled twice a year that are  offered on Guruji’s visits to America. Classes and events are being scheduled now for September 2005. Pre-register for Fall classes now. Drums are available for purchase. Please join us for a lecture, demonstration and Indian Classical Dance performance on Tuesday,
May 24 at 6:30 pm at Georgia College & State University presented at the Arts &Sciences Auditorium. Call 478-457-5482 for more information.
